It’s been a long time since I’ve posted. Life has been busy and difficult. I’ve felt exhausted by all my traveling and by trying to maintain two households in two states. There have been a lot of stressors in my relationships. My partner is having major surgery in a week. Our support network is small. Sometimes I feel very alone.
As for birding, I’ve been feeling disconnected from the birding community. I attended a bird banding workshop that I did not enjoy and that was actually really stressful for me. I haven’t been taking any pleasure in birding with groups. In fact, it’s been the opposite.
I’ve been trying to get outside and enjoy nature and birds, but for several months, it’s been so hot both in Arizona and SoCal that I couldn’t go birding. Now that it’s finally cooling down, I have been getting out.
Today I went on a bird walk at the San Pedro House with a group, but had to break away from them to be on my own. I paid attention to other things, not just birds. For example, all the different types of butterflies and grasshoppers that were abundant and active.
Then, I saw this Raven grooming another Raven and started crying.
I don’t know what else to say. But I hope to get back to posting regularly someday. I have a lot of bird adventures to report when I have the capacity to do so.
