About

About Me

I live in Southern California with my wife and our cat, Lady. My ability to work from anywhere allows me to travel and explore new places and birding hotspots.

In addition to birding, my other interests include creative writing, quilting, sewing, biking, reading, lighthouses, journaling, making YouTube videos, playing piano and singing, and petting all the cats.

Why Ms. Bird Nerd?

This blog is dedicated to nerding out over birds and sharing my birding journey, offering tips and insights for new and seasoned birders. It aims to foster inclusivity in birding by engaging new birders of all ages, women, POC, and LGBTQIA+ individuals.

My Story

I’ve always been fascinated by birds, but it wasn’t until I downloaded the Merlin app that I became a dedicated birder. I share my insights on becoming a birder “late” in life to encourage others to join the birding community and not feel discouraged.

My Mission

The mission of this blog is to promote inclusivity in birding and to make birding accessible to everyone through tips, ID help, tour reviews, suggestions on where to go birding, and the occasional meme.

Join Me

Whether you’re a seasoned birdwatcher or a newbie, there’s a place for you here. I hope to inspire many to explore the world of birds through engaging content, and encourage everyone to participate no matter their background or skill level.

Get Birding!

Birding isn’t just about the birds: it’s about engaging with all of the natural world and enjoying the peace and tranquility that come from being in the Great Outdoors.
